Companion 24K Gold CD

For our first all-new 24K Gold CD releases in eight years, we worked with jazz icon Patricia Barber and Premonition Records to bring her classic 1999 release COMPANION to the format for the very first time.

Patricia Barber’s Companion was a record of firsts for Barber and Premonition. The first recording of Barber’s legendary live show. The first release under the Blue Note/Premonition joint imprint, the only such business arrangement in Blue Note’s storied history. And first Stereophile RECORDING OF THE MONTH. Designed as a “companion” to Barber’s previous studio recording Modern Cool, the album features several re-invented Modern Cool tracks, some of the best Barber pop covers on record, and one ingenious new Barber original.

Companion has been newly remastered from the original analog tapes by Bernie Grundman at Bernie Grundman Mastering for added warmth musicality. The deluxe book-style packaging has a heavy-stock booklet that pays homage to the original Premonition CDs while updating them to Impex Records’ premium look and feel.

The Limited Edition Impex 24K Gold CD Patricia Barber Series are manufactured at Memory-Tech’s state-of-the-art facility in Japan.
